I admit it. I’m a procrastinator. Always have been, always will be. So it’s no surprise that I’m scrambling to come up with something to do for Valentine’s Day. My husband is the exact same (at least when it comes to stuff like this). We didn’t even discuss what we were going to do until this past Sunday (5 days before Valentine’s Day). He called a few restaurants and we kept getting the same reply. “Sure, we can get you in…at 10:30PM.”
So what else is there to do in this beautiful city besides the same old dinner and a movie? Well, in my search I’ve actually discovered there is TONS to do! Here are a few of my favorites:
Valentines’s Day at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium
We all know that the zoo does an amazing light display every year around Christmas time. But did you know that they do it for Valentine’s Day too? In addition to the lights, they are offering horse drawn carriage rides, carousel rides, and of course animal presentations. For an additional fee, you can purchase “The Ultimate Valentine Package” which includes dinner, heart shaped cookies, an adopt an animal package, unlimited carousel rides, and many other things as well.

Columbus Symphony Orchestra
If you’re looking for something a little bit more relaxing (and warm), how about visiting The Ohio Theatre for The Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s presentation of Romeo and Juliet? I mean, come on. There’s not a more romantic love story in existence than that of the star crossed lovers!

So if you’re a procrastinator like myself and didn’t think far enough in advance to make dinner reservations, you can always go out to Easton and put your name on a wait list at one of their many restaurants. You’ll more than likely be waiting for a very, very long time. But at least you’ll have something cool to do. Starting on Valentine’s Day, Easton is turning the town square into a skating rink!
It’s free to skate, but they take donations for OSU’s Ross Heart Hospital in honor of Heart Health Month.

Franklin Park Conservatory
From 5:30-10pm, stroll through the warm gardens inside Franklin Park Conservatory while sampling wine and chocolate pairings. There will also be live music and of course the amazing exhibition, Bruce Munro: Light. You do need to purchase tickets for this event, so jump on it soon! You can get them here.
