Alvina Valenta Trunk Show

When you work in a bridal store, few things are more exciting than trunk show weekends. And we are EXTRA excited about our upcoming Alvina Valenta trunk show November 4-6. That’s because we will not only have the Fall 2016 collection in store, but also the Spring 2017 collection! The Spring gowns won’t even be in store until (you guessed it) next spring. So if you’re dying for a gown that no one has ever seen, this is your chance to snag one. And did we mention that all Alvina gowns will be 10% off? Appointments are required, and we still have a few left for Friday (November 4) and Sunday (November 6).

New Arrival: The Charlie Gown

Our UPS man is pretty much Santa Clause. Each time he drops off a new delivery I get that same excited feeling I get Christmas morning…wondering what could possibly be inside that box. Well today, it was the Charlie gown by Hayley Paige. We have been waiting on this dress to make her debut since October, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she’s finally home!

Just check out how stunning she is…

Personalized Gifts

Lately I’ve been obsessed with personalized gifts. I love my cocktail glasses with our initials engraved onto them and my necklace with our anniversary in Roman Numerals stamped into it!

With wedding season beginning to approach, its always good to think about something special to give to your bride or groom! Wedding gifts to each other are definitely a must, even if its just something small and memorable.

5 tips for summer weddings

When you’re planning your dream wedding there might be a few details that can make your day, and your guests day, much better.

1. An extra boutonniere for your groom. Your grooms boutonniere on the wedding day is going to face some heat and hugs. If you want your groom to look fresh and put together all day long, order an extra bout that you can pull out in case of an emergency.

2. Having an outdoor wedding in the summer? Make sure you have hand held fans for your guests. The summer heat can really start to wear on your guests who are all dressed up and possibly sitting in the sun. Some additional wind can really make all the difference.

3. Have non alcoholic drinks available. Its 90 degrees, your ceremony and cocktail hour are outside, and its hot. Sure, you have the bar open and your guests can grab some gin and tonics, but make sure you have some lemonade or cucumber water available for them to hydrate with.

4. Cute umbrellas in case it rains. When you’re having your pictures done, make sure to have some cute umbrellas for you and your groom. The clear umbrellas are the best for pictures! Want to cutes it up even more? Throw on a pair of colorful Hunter’s to show off your playful side!

5. If you want amazing pictures, don’t schedule them to happen at high noon in an open field. Hiring a true professional, they will know how to work with this. But, if you can shoot closer to sunset, MAKE IT HAPPEN! The lighting is amazing and will just GLOW in your pictures!

Valentines day ideas

I saw on the calendar the other day that Valentines day is next month. Ha! I always wait until the very last minute to try and plan anything. If anything at all. But, I really would like to get much better at giving my husband romantic experiences.

If your husband is anything like mine then you understand how hard it is to try and plan anything. Anything he wants, he just buys for himself. And he hates surprises… So… Im limited.

Here are some fun ideas I came up with!

1. North High Brewery

590_taproom_at_night2

North High Brewery is such a cool idea for a date night with your man. Especially if you love beer like us. You get to go into the microbrewery and create your own beer for the day! You can even come up with cool new flavors if you give them enough notice. Even better, THEY clean up the mess! And every lady out there sighed with excitement.

2. White Castle….

white-castle

Okay, maybe this one isn’t as serious! I just kind of laughed my butt off when I heard White Castle takes reservations for Valentines dinner. Maybe for the couple with a serious sense of humor?

3.  Couples Massage!

There is nothing more relaxing than walking into a warm, dimly lit room with your lover and enjoying a relaxing massage.

4. I have a secret…

I love wine.

Okay, maybe its not so much a secret as much as it is a confession. Wine tasting is a great way to get things heated up! Some of my favorite wine spots around Columbus are Vino Vino, Marcella’s, and Spagio Cellars. Maybe get a car from Uber and go try wine from each restaurant!

5. Pizza making night

Maybe this Valentines day fighting crowds and going out into bad weather doesn’t sound like your idea of fun. So what about staying home, putting on your sexiest (or comfiest IMO), pour yourselves a glass of wine and cut your pepperonis into little hearts and make your own personal pizzas! Top the night off with a classic romance and candle light snuggles.

First Annual Multi Boutique Sample Sale

This last weekend Ivy Bridal Studio along with La Jeune Mariee and White of Dublin all collaborated to create a gigantic sample sale. All together we had over 300 designer dresses ranging anywhere from 50%-80% off.

The day began perfectly as we hustled to get everything ready for the first annual sample sale. I was driving to Embassy Suites that morning to meet Jackie and glanced in my rear view mirror to see the most beautiful arrangement of reds, oranges and pinks. The sun was coming up into the clouds and I was treated to a gorgeous light show that set the tone of the day.

As we rushed around to get everything set up and the dresses placed on their racks, our excitement continued to build. As did the line. Oh, that LINE! It was so fun to peek outside the doors to see all the lovely gals anxiously awaiting to run in and try to find a killer deal on a dress.

Finally, it was time to open the doors and let our first 8 brides in to try and find their gowns. They rushed in, grabbed 5 dresses each, and right off the bat we had a few brides say yes to their dress. Cue the whole store cheering and applauding. The energy was contagious and super special for everyone involved.

The rest of the day had energy like nothing Ive ever seen. Lots of ladies, lots of dresses,  and lots of caffeine! It was definitely something you wont want to miss out on next year.

Thank you so much to everyone who came, supported all the boutiques and purchased their dresses from us. We can’t wait to continue the sample sale tradition and put on an even bigger more successful sale next year.

Enjoy some of the images that the wonderfully talented Ben Hartley from Style and Story Creative took for us 🙂

Introducing Rachel

Rachel. Is. Amazing. That pretty much sums up how I feel about our very first team member. She’s a jack of all trades. Marketing? Check. Photography? Check. Being awesome? Double Check! And not only does she bring all of that to the table, she’s also one of the most cheerful and kind hearted people I’ve ever met. So without further adieu, ladies (and gentlemen)…meet Rachel!

What’s your favorite color?

My all time FAV is navy! But my heart will always belong to sparkle.

What’s your favorite food?

What isn’t my favorite food? If I have to choose a favorite it would be deep dish pizza.

Do you have any animals?

Yes! I have a 10 year old lab/pitbull mix and he is my precious baby.

Are you married?

To my absolute best friend in the entire world! We started dating my Freshman year of high school and have been together ever since.

What did your wedding dress look like?

Strapless was ALL the rage when I got married. If you wore sleeves you pretty much were old school. It was a ball gown, super poofy, super sparkly and super white. There would be so much I would change in this day in age!

What is your dream vacation?

It would be two months of traveling to many different countries, experiencing their culture and site seeing. I want to see so much before I die!

What do you do when you’re not working at IVY?

I am the owner of rachelandjared.com photographer/entrepreneur! I love spending time with my friends and family and I also love binge watching Netflix and eating junk food in the winter time.

What do you like most about working in the wedding industry?

I LOVE LOVE! I get so excited hearing proposal stories, the dreams each couple has for their life together, I enjoy the girly aspects that include dresses, accessories, etc.. I also love getting to be there to watch a girl choose her dress that she marries her lover in, and I also love getting a chance to be the one to document the day that provides memories for the future.

Do you have a favorite dress at IVY?

Definitely. Its either Dori or Dani in Ivory. It reminds me of what I wore on my wedding day but poofier!!

What’s your favorite holiday and why?

CHRISTMAS! I could make a huge list of reasons why I love Christmas but I love what the holiday stands for along with the decorations, cookies, gatherings, sparkles, an excuse to wear sparkles, giving gifts to my friends and family, getting gifts from my friends and family 😉
